Calendar by weeks: the fundamentals

Weeks in a Gregorian calendar year are usually numbered for each year. Using a “week by week calendar” is very commonin businesses and in many European and Asian countries.

There is also an international standard for any week number calendar under ISO 8601, which includes the ISO week date system. Each week is associated with the year in which Thursday occurs (if a year starts on Friday–Sunday, first week of the year will start after that). The highest week number in a year is mostly 52 or 53. Some countries are not using the ISO 8601 week-number Standard.
